July 11, 2012 – The hospital can be a scary and nerve-wracking place for anyone.

Here are five tips to help reduce your feelings of worry and stress:
1. Being comfortable.
In order to become healthy as quickly as possible, ensure that you are comfortable in every aspect.
Think about what clothes, toiletries, and leisure items (books, computer, iPod, etc) you want brought to you by your family and friends.
Also, ask your loved ones to bring in your favorite foods (if permitted by your doctor).
Having personal objects around you will make you feel better about your environment.
2. Preparing questions to ask your doctor.
Think about what questions you may want to ask your doctor.
These questions can be about the procedure, any medication you are prescribed, or about any other concerns that you may have.
3. Organizing your paperwork.
Obtain the help of a relative or loved one to organize all necessary documents. Having your paperwork ready to go will ensure that you have a more efficient hospital stay.
4. Arranging discharge procedures.
Ensure that you know who will be taking you home after your hospital stay and how you will be getting there.
5. Relaxing.
Finally, don’t think about anything too much when you’re in the hospital.
Relax as much as you can and concentrate on feeling better.
